Another way to wear conflict-free diamonds
News this week has highlighted how there is another way to source conflict-free diamonds: man-made stones. Ingle & Rhode has always offered the option of obtaining these 'lab-made' stones to clients as well as those that are mined ethically and in a conflict-free setting.
It is thought that in the USA, the popularity of these stones is on the increase, and one of the reasons for this may be that the stones tend to be a lower price - sometimes up to 25% less than naturally made stones.
But in what ways to they differ from mined stones? The reality is there are no obvious differences. They are chemically and structurally the same and to the untrained, and even the trained, it is hard to tell them apart.
Man-made stones are not new to the market, however in the past they have been used mainly for commercial reasons. It seems now though that that may be about to change as ethically-minded customers find out more about them in their search for conflict-free stones.
